LEED for Buildings offers four different rating systems that support building sustainability throughout the life cycle: LEED for Building Design and Construction (LEED BD+C) that can be used for new buildings, LEED for Interior Design and Construction (LEED ID+C) for interior spaces, LEED for Operations, Maintenance (LEED O+M) for existing buildings and LEED Homes for residential buildings of up to six stories. The tools help decision makers and stakeholders to create responsible and sustainable buildings and continuously improve buildings’ performance. Recertification options are available.

Tool Outcome

The three LEED rating systems for buildings award projects with an official score and certification level (Certified – Silver – Gold – Platinum). Once certified, the tools help local leaders to evaluate gaps, prioritize areas for improvement and credibly track progress toward overall sustainability objectives. Furthermore, LEEDS can be used as a benchmark performance against national and global standards, to demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, resilience and social equity, to develop a culture of data-driven decision making, transparency and leadership and, ultimately, to improve the quality of life of buildings’ users.
